HIEs still lack an evidence base

Based on research by Nir Menachemi, chair at the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Indiana University in Indianapolis, and his colleagues at Health Affairs there is little evidence that shows benefits directly correlated to HIE. Nir and the Health Affairs team gathered info from 27 studies and 94 analyses of HIE costs and outcomes. Although they found  there is no strong evidence that health care benefits are directly attributable to the use of HIEs, he believes it is too early to say if we got our money’s worth out of HIEs.
