Medi-Sota Selects 7 Medical as a Preferred Vendor

7 Medical to offer on-demand PACS, teleradiology and disaster recovery solutions to Medi-Sota member hospitals

MINNEAPOLIS—September 16, 2009—7 Medical Systems™, a leader in on-demand picture archiving and communication system (PACS), teleradiology, disaster recovery and electronic medical record (EMR) solutions for healthcare, today announced that the company has been named a preferred vendor of Medi-Sota, a rural healthcare association based in Minnesota. Under this program, Medi-Sota’s 31 member hospitals and clinics will have access to promotional packages and pricing plans for PACS, teleradiology and disaster recovery solutions through a more affordable on-demand or “pay-as-you-go” business model from 7 Medical. In addition, 7 Medical will partner with Medi-Sota to deliver customized educational programs for its members.

Medi-Sota is a non-profit organization representing an alliance of rural health care hospitals and clinics working together to effectively provide value to its members and strengthen the delivery of health care in the Medi-Sota service area in Western and Central Minnesota. The membership includes the chairman of board, chief of staff, and the administrator/CEO of each member facility, with the CEOs acting as the board of directors.

“The goal of our preferred vendor program is to select vendors and service providers who add value and lower the cost of doing business to our member facilities,” said Deb Ranallo. “We’re pleased to add 7 Medical as a preferred technology vendor.”

Glacial Ridge Health System and several other Medi-Sota members are already benefiting from on-demand PACS and other services from 7 Medical. “We were able to cut our costs in half by using 7 Medical’s on-demand PACS service,” said Jean Mattson, radiology manager at Glacial Ridge Health System. “Besides cost reduction, a critical piece for us was 7 Medical’s ability to integrate to our existing Healthland HIS system. They managed the implementation and integration for us, which made it easy for us, and they were able to meet our time line.”

States Jason Studsrud, chief executive officer of 7 Medical, “We look forward to a long-term partnership with Medi-Sota and its members, and are committed to advancing the technology initiatives of critical access facilities in the state. Because our on-demand solutions offer cost-effective alternatives to traditional, capital-intensive approaches involving hardware and software build-out, our model will enable Medi-Sota members to overcome common barriers to healthcare IT adoption. We will continue to offer the great service and support our rural customers across the U.S. have come to expect.”

7 Medical and Medi-Sota have worked closely to design promotional packages and pricing for on-demand PACS, teleradiology, storage and disaster recovery solutions customized to the specific needs of member hospitals and clinics. With an on-demand business model, facilities can subscribe to any one of these services at a low monthly fee-paying for only what they use. As a turnkey solution, 7 Medical provides a clinical project manager to handle all aspects of implementation, integration and training, which is backed by 24/7 service and support.
